  • Hyde Challenge: Honoring a fallen warrior

    More than 1,300 new cadets trekked up Mine Torne Hill, scaling rocks and clasping hands to reach the top, thus completing the final mission of the Hyde Challenge.

     It was a test of their field training and a testament to a West Point warrior who gave his life in service to his country.

     First Lt. Daniel Hyde, a Class of 2007 graduate, had served as a cadet regimental commander during CBT during his firstie year.

  • Old Grads endure march

    The March Back is a time-honored tradition at West Point marking the end of Cadet Basic Training. The grueling march from Camp Buckner to the Superintendent’s quarters is made slightly easier as West Point graduates showed thieri support by march alongside the new cadets, a fairly new part of the tradition begun in 2002.

  • Cadets enjoy night out with West Point alumni

    Col. Douglas Crissman, Class of 1988, and commander of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, his wife Carolyn, as well as the Heart of Texas West Point Society, hosted a reception for the U.S. Military Academy cadets participating in the Cadet Troop Leading Training program, July 22.

    The reception, held at the Crissman residence, presented the cadets an opportunity to relax and talk with West Point graduates and senior leaders.

  • Training at Sandhurst

    More than 230 officer cadets from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst ended their 10-day military training exercise in the Galloway Forest July 24, to include a detachment of 25 West Point cadets. The Academy trains officers to enable them to take command of Soldiers both on and off operational duties.

    The culmination of the Commissioning Course is Exercise Dynamic Victory, a 10-day exercise that sought to include everything that the officer cadets have learned over the past year. Read more...
